Projects on Peace

Spring 2021

Me We: Projects on Peace is a group exhibition and website, composed of a series of collaborative projects, each exploring active peacemaking through a different lens and rooted in historical and contemporary examples of community building. 

Spring semester of 2021, Exhibition Design students investigated stories grounded in the origins of nonviolent action, the love ethic of Howard and Sue Bailey Thurman, Sue Bailey Thurman’s dedication to documenting black history, and ways Sue Bailey Thurman created places of belonging. Research was grounded in the Thurman collection at the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center at BU and conversations between the class and Sue Bailey Thurman scholar Arleigh Prelow, and Boston arts leaders. 

The Untold Stories of Civil Rights Leaders in Boston -- Boston University Initiative on Cities (IOC), BU Arts Initiative, and BU Diversity & Inclusion hosted a discussion on the untold stories of civil rights leaders in Boston featuring Assistant Professor of History & African American Studies Paula Austin, filmmaker Roberto Mighty, and Lecturer in Art & Graphic Design Jessie Rubenstein.
